We’d Like to Introduce Ourselves
About Allison
Hello Human! I am so pleased you found your way here. My therapeutic approach is relational, reflective, and humanist. I believe that acceptance, and safety are important aspects of engendering connection with people. I prioritize understanding individuals’ subjective experiences that culminate to influence their reality. I am trained in trauma-informed approaches but use an eclectic style of treatment approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Relational-Cultural, Feminist, Somatic Theories and interventions. My clients and I collaboratively work to establish a space of non-judgement and compassion to foster deep reflections, genuine expression, and progress towards wellness goals. In this space you will be empowered to come as you are, and engage in strengths and solutions based, self-directed work. I believe we can all find more empathy toward ourselves and others using the skills we have inside ourselves to invite in healthier tools for coping and finding internal balance. There is no perfect way to be a client, or counselor for that matter. Every therapeutic relationship is unique and requires mutual respect and effort to uncover your needs and discover the best ways for you to move toward them.
I specialize in trauma/complex trauma, grief and self-esteem work, depression, anxiety, ADHD/Neurodivergent issues, somatic/body based work, relationship conflicts, communication, family dynamic struggles, issues with religion/spirituality, and life transitions. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse and completed my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University-Chicago. I am affirming of all genders, sexualities, and partnership formations, and honor the complex intersectional identities and lived experiences of the people I serve. I have interests in psychedelic-assisted therapy, alternative/holistic healing, energetic and spiritual work as well as Anthropology, physiology, and neuroscience. In my free time, I enjoy spending time writing, exploring nature, and practicing yoga/mindfulness meditation. I am a proud cat and plant mom!
“The new dawn blooms as we free it. There is always light, if only we are brave enough to see it. If only we are brave enough to be it.”
